Computer Requirements

Minimum Windows specifications, Mac recommendations, and how to start with a setup your computer can handle.

Your computer needs enough resources to run Stellar, your tasks and any required browser or captcha harvesters. The requirements below are a starting point; they do not guarantee a particular number of tasks or harvesters.

Windows minimum specifications

• Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016, or newer.
• Processor: A 4-core Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3, or better.
• Memory: 8 GB RAM.
• Storage: At least 4 GB of available disk space.

These describe Stellar’s minimum compatibility. Keep your operating system updated and use a version that still receives security updates from its provider.

Mac recommendations

Stellar supports Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. An Apple Silicon (M-series) Mac, such as an M1 or newer, is recommended.

Keep macOS as current as possible for your Mac. If you use an older Mac and are unsure about compatibility, ask support with your model, chip/processor, memory and macOS version before relying on it for a release.

How many tasks can I run?

There is no single task count that fits every computer. The retailer, task mode, browser windows, harvesters and other open applications all affect resource use.

1. Start with a small setup and follow the retailer’s recommended workflow.
2. Watch whether your computer stays responsive. Use Windows Task Manager or macOS Activity Monitor to check CPU and memory use.
3. Increase gradually. If the app or browser becomes slow, reduce tasks or harvesters and close unnecessary applications.

Google Chrome is required for Captcha Harvesters. For hCaptcha AI Solver, use the harvester’s Test AI button to help assess your setup. There is no fixed recommended number of captcha harvesters for every computer.

Computer, server or mobile?

A server is optional. Follow the Servers guide and retailer-specific advice before choosing one; servers are not recommended for Target.

The mobile companion requires Stellar to remain open and connected on your paired computer or server. A phone does not replace the computer’s processing resources.
